Changes regarding certain services

We have always taken great pride in the privacy community. From the start, it has been essential for us to store as little data as possible to safeguard your privacy. We do not do anything with your data, so we saw no reason to store it. In fact, we started SMSPool precisely because our own data ended up in the wrong hands, leading to our personal information being monetised and abused through spam calls and messages.
As a niche service, we originally catered to a small userbase that shared a common goal. We wanted to keep our own data secure while using SMSPool numbers that did not link back to our real identities.
Sadly, this landscape has changed. Because we collect so little data, we have become a target for criminals, abusers, and customers we certainly do not want on our service. We have attempted to filter this activity out, but bad actors continue to bypass our measures because the barrier to entry was simply too low.
What has changed?
To ensure we are not protecting the wrong people and to remain compliant with regulations, we have introduced a whitelisting process. These changes were implemented on 24 October 2025.
At the moment, this requirement applies only to WhatsApp.
To access WhatsApp numbers, you must submit a whitelist application with the following details:
- First Name and Last Name: This must be your legal (government) name. You can either submit your full first and last name, or simply provide your first name and the first letter of your last name.
Intention:
- If this is for personal use, simply state that.
- If this is for business use, you must explain the nature of the business you will be conducting with the numbers.
Our commitment to your privacy
We understand this is a shift from our original model. However, what will not change is our approach to data handling. We would never collect your data without clearly telling you first.
We have decided to manage this verification process entirely in-house. We are not using any third-party verification services. The data you fill in remains with SMSPool and only with SMSPool. This requirement is currently exclusive to WhatsApp, and any other service on our platform will continue to operate as usual without this step.
If you wish to apply for a WhatsApp service whitelist, you can do so via the link below.
