How to get a Discord SMS Verification
- By SMSPool Admin

Discord may sometimes require SMS verification as an anti-bot measure that may appear during a new account registration or when you're joining certain servers. Discord SMS verification can be completed in under two minutes using one of our online non-VoIP temporary phone numbers or by using a long-term rental from SMSPool without the need for a spare SIM card.

Why Does Discord Require Phone Verification?
Discord will use SMS verification as an anti-abuse measure. It will link each account to a real phone number which will make it harder to make large numbers of throwaway accounts for spam, raiding, or ban evasion. You can find more information on this at Discord's official phone verification support page.
You are likeliest to see the verification prompt when you are:
- Registering a new account
- Joining servers immediately after registration
- Joining servers that have Discord phone verification required
- Direct messaged multiple users who are not your friends
- Discord flags your account for unusual activity
- Used third party clients or modifications to Discord
Once your number is verified, Discord will store it on your account. You will not be asked to verify your number again unless you remove the phone number from your account or trigger additional security checks.
What Phone Numbers Work for Discord?
Discord's verification system will filter out most virtual and VoIP numbers. This will include free services like Google Voice, TextNow and similar platforms. These numbers will be rejected because they are not tied to real mobile carriers and Discord will use carrier lookup data to filter them out.
To pass Discord's SMS verification, you will need a number sourced from a genuine mobile carrier and that's exactly what we provide here at SMSPool. We provide real, non-VoIP numbers for over 150 countries that are available for a one-time use or as a long-term rental at a low cost.
Discord SMS verification on SMSPool typically costs no more than 0.05 USD for a Discord phone number.
If you're still unsure, you are able to test our Discord SMS verification service before spending anything. Our free SMS verification page lets you receive a code on a shared number. Please keep in mind that shared numbers are publicly visible, so they won't be suitable for account registration.
How to Get a Discord SMS Verification Code
Follow the below steps to verify your Discord account using SMSPool.
- Step 1: Create an SMSPool account. Head to SMSPool.net. Registration is fast and does not require an email address if you choose not to use one.
- Step 2: Add funds to your balance. Go to the Deposit page and add credit to your account. Discord SMS verifications on SMSPool are low cost. We suggest adding $3 USD to get you started.
- Step 3: Order a Discord SMS number. Go to the Order page. Select the country that you are based in and select Discord as the service. If that doesn't work, try using United States in the country field as a fallback with a USA IP address for Discord.
- Step 4: Complete the purchase. Use the Quick Purchase button. SMSPool will generate a real, non-VoIP phone number for you within seconds.
- Step 5: Enter the number that has been generated, into Discord. Copy the number SMSPool gives you and go to your Discord User Settings > My Account, and Add a Phone Number. Select the country, paste in the number and press Send Code.
- Step 6: Retrieve and enter the SMS code. Return to the SMSPool dashboard. The verification code sent by Discord will appear within 30 seconds. Paste the code into the Discord verification prompt and confirm. Your account will now be verified.
Which Countries Work Best for Discord Phone Verification?
Country selection matters more than most people think. Discord will cross-reference your IP address against the country your phone number is registered in. When the two don't match, Discord will say that it's an "Invalid Number".
Below are some of the countries we would suggest using:
- United States is the most reliable choice for Discord SMS verification. US numbers have the highest availability on SMSPool and the highest success rate. If you are connecting from outside the US, pair a US number with a residential IP or use a paid VPN like Mullvad or IVPN for the best results.
- United Kingdom works well for users connecting from a UK IP address. UK numbers are widely available and will pass Discord's SMS verification without issue.
- Other countries are supported, but success rates may vary. The safest way is to always use a Discord SMS number from the same country as your IP address. If your country isn't available or isn't working, use a US number and match your IP accordingly.
You can check which countries are available on our Countries and services supported by SMSPool page.
Common Issues and How to Fix Them
Discord Phone Verification Is Not Working
This is usually an IP address issue and not a problem with the number itself. Discord cross-references your IP address against your phone number's country and flags mismatches. Tor exit nodes (exit relays) are almost always blocked and free VPNs usually have a low success rate.
To fix this:
- Switch to a mobile data connection (4G/5G) that matches the number's country or a residential IP address. Paid VPNs such as Mullvad or IVPN may work where free VPNs wouldn't.
- Open a fresh browser session after switching IP addresses before trying again.
Discord Says The Code is Incorrect
Try resending the code using the Resend option on SMSPool, then resend the code on Discord to receive a new SMS verification code.
Discord SMS Verification Not Sending
If no code appears on your SMSPool dashboard within a couple of minutes, cancel the order and try a different number. We will not charge you if a code isn't received.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to verify my phone number on Discord? Discord only requires phone verification if your account is flagged as suspicious or if you join a server that has Discord phone verification enabled as a requirement.
Can I use a free virtual number for Discord? No. Discord actively filters out VoIP numbers, including well known free and paid VoIP services like Google Voice and TextNow. This is because these numbers aren't linked to a real mobile carrier. Discord's system will flag them at the SMS verification stage. Our phone numbers come from genuine carriers which is why they pass where free services fail to do so.
Which country's phone number should I use for Discord? Use a number from the same country your IP address is in. If that doesn't work, use a US number with a residential IP address or a paid VPN.
How do I get past Discord phone verification? The only reliable method is a real carrier phone number. Free virtual numbers and VoIP services are filtered out by Discord's systems. Order a Discord SMS number from SMSPool, enter it into Discord and retrieve the code from your dashboard. The whole process will take under two minutes and is easy to do.
How long does it take to receive the SMS code? Usually under 30 seconds. If a code hasn't arrived after two minutes, cancel the order and request a new number. You won't be charged for numbers that do not receive an SMS.
Can I use the same phone number on multiple Discord accounts? No. Discord links one phone number to one account. Attempting to reuse a number already associated with another account will not work.
Will I need to verify again if I get a new phone? No. The verification is tied to your Discord account and not your device. You only need to re-verify if you manually remove the phone number from your Discord account.
Why is Discord not sending my SMS verification code? There may be a few reasons Discord may not send a code or may reject your number as invalid. Your IP address may not match the country of the phone number you entered, your browser session may need to be clean, or Discord may have flagged your account for unusual activity. Read our full guide on Discord not sending SMS verification codes for a full breakdown and possible fixes.
Is Discord phone verification safe? Yes. Discord's phone verification system is a standard anti-abuse measure. You are simply linking a phone number to your account to confirm you are a real user. Using a real carrier number from SMSPool isn't any different from using your own personal number.
Is using SMSPool against Discord's terms of service? No. We provide real carrier based phone numbers and using a legitimate phone number for verification is no different from using your own. SMSPool is an SMS verification service and is not a tool for ban evasion or abuse.
What if I want to remove my phone number from Discord later? You can remove it at any time in User Settings under "My Account". Please note that some servers require a verified phone number for access, so removing it may affect your ability to join or stay in those servers.
How much does Discord SMS verification cost on SMSPool? A US Discord SMS verification typically costs no more than 0.05 USD. You can check live pricing for all countries on our quick order page.
